OUR HISTORY
Chaco Alert is a brand new program beginning in 2024, serving the Chaco Community.
History in the making

Quadriz and Investancia recognised the enormous healthcare challenges present amongst the communities of the Paraguayan Chaco. Limited access to medical care, coupled with inadequate transportation infrastructure and long distances to healthcare facilities, posed significant risks to public health. In response, they created Chaco Alert - an air ambulance service to improve access to urgent medical care in the region to address this crucial need whilst further confirming the additional benefits of carbon projects to local communities.
Why Chaco Alert is needed
The Paraguayan Chaco spans 246,925 km2 and constitutes 60% of Paraguay’s total land area, however is sparsely populated. Projections for 2020-2025 estimate a population of just 216,919 inhabitants in the Western region, representing 2.5% of Paraguay’s total population, served by 94 medical posts.
Health posts fall into different categories such as:
Extreme temperatures, extended droughts and water inundation in rainy seasons contributes to the remoteness and inaccessibility of the Chaco. This impacts rural connectivity as reflected by the 6 routes (3,554 km in total length) across its expansive Western region, home to many rural communities. Land transport is most common, involving long and exhausting journeys often in precariously dangerous conditions. The inefficiency and unreliability of transportation services makes it difficult or impossible to provide urgent medical care and emergency transportation of sick or injured persons.
